Strong Community Resources: When Families Fall Through the Cracks, the Budget Is to Blame

Hamilton County is growing fast. Our mental health services, childcare, senior care, and public health infrastructure need to keep pace. Chris Daniel has watched families fall through those gaps his entire career, and he's running to make sure the county budget reflects what this community actually values.

The things that help families recover, stay healthy, and stay here.

Every nurse knows this: people don't get better in a hospital room. They get better at home, with the right support, in a community that has what they need within reach. Hamilton County is growing fast, and our community resources — mental health services, childcare, senior care, the Health Department — have to grow with us. When they don't, families fall through the cracks I've watched people fall through my whole career.

I'm not going to pretend the County Council can fix every problem. But the Council approves the budget, and the budget is a statement of what we actually value.

On the County Council, I'll:

  • Protect and strengthen funding for the Hamilton County Health Department and mental health services, especially for kids and seniors
  • Treat childcare access as the workforce issue it is — families can't work if they can't find care they trust
  • Support the parks, trails, and library system that make Hamilton County a happy, healthy place to live
  • Listen to and partner with the nonprofits and frontline workers already doing this work.
